    Teaser Watch: Sally El Hosaini Spotlights Refugee Sisters & Olympic Hopefuls in “The Swimmers”

    Set to open this 12 months’s version of the Toronto Worldwide Movie Competition, “The Swimmers” depicts two refugees’ epic journey from war-torn Syria to the 2016 Rio Olympics. A newly launched trailer for the drama introduces us to Yursa (Nathalie Issa) and Sara (Manal Issa), sisters who discover themselves fleeing their residence in Damascus with the hope of discovering security in Europe.

    “We have to transfer ahead. You’re not allowed to surrender,” the sisters remind each other.

    The spot consists of glimpses of Yursa and Sara in Syria, in a very harmful stretch of the Mediterranean sea, and on the Olympics.
